The last! Ex LNWR 0-8-0 49451 was the last steam locomotive to come to Longridge hauling a passenger train. The engine had run round its train, taken on water and was about to couple up again to the Railtour Special, and return to Preston on September 22nd 1962. The last actual working being a diesel 0-6-0 that came up to remove a goods wagon on March 5th 1968. The line was lifted about July 1968.
