The text at the bottom of the picture reads - An aerial view looking over Stone Bridge in a south westerly direction with Whittle's mill & chimney in the centre of the picture. We don't know the date it was taken but it appeared in The News on January 20th 1983. c1950


The following text is some local information about Reg Wallace: 

"... Reg Wallace had a shop on Stone Bridge where Andrew O'Neill's electrical shop is now. Reg Wallace was also a caretaker for the Drill Hall on Little Lane. He had two petrol pumps in Whittingham Road, opposite Chatburn Road. It was R.P.O (Russian Oil Products) Bill Graham took over the shop after Reg Wallace."
