The Plough Inn of today was built in 1785 and was originally a 'farm/ coaching house.' When the railway opened, passenger facilities including a ticket office were provided in the pub. They brewed their own ale and delivered some to various hotels in Preston. When home brewing ceased The Plough Inn traded as a "Free House" until sold to the Preston brewer, Matthew Brown & Co. of Pole Street Brewery.
