Party held for the neighbourhood by the Mercer family at their home, The Limes in Berry Lane, where Mrs. Bryszklewski was then in service.  She remembers Thomas and Ginette Mercer (pictured  centre right with hat) running The Limes as small holding with arable land, two cows and a few hen s.  The reared turkeys at Christmas and made their own butter, the whey from which was sent across to Mrs. Willacy in her sweet shop, where she made the best ice-cream in the business.

6th row down l/r - Peter Jones, Ruth Mercer, Tony and Malcolm Bateson, and the Hutchinson family.
