A false ceiling had been in place for many years on the Co-op's second floor; this photograph shows the room after its removal. The windows that can be seen in the photograph face onto Berry Lane and the right hand door leads to the stairs. The left hand door leads to the Small Hall which was the second floor of the 1888 extension. This Main Hall is the second floor of the original Co-op Building, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1879.
