Decision to install the eight day clock on the Co-op building was made on December 3rd 1879 at a cost of £45. The grand opening was on Saturday July 18th 1880.

Subscriptions were “solicited from the gentry” by a committee of three members and the installation was made by Messrs W.H. Bailey of Salford, Manchester.

The clock was found in the Co-op during the renovation and restored by the Longridge and District Local History Society.
